about

(*1997 in Erlangen, Germany; living and working in The Hague, Netherlands)

My work deals with the relationship between place and people while I use the camera as a tool to explore and to understand my environments. Reoccurring themes are architecture, domestic space, infrastructure, nature, and the human made environment. The urge to take images comes from a strong curiosity about my surroundings and their qualities. Why are things the way they are? What is there to discover and to learn? Photography allows an investigation and a documentation of my personal perception of a place. This investigative methodology includes research-based observation, field work and the focus on how people and place influence one another. I aim to make people think about their environment, to trigger a dialog about the spaces we inhabit or navigate through daily. The presentation is of equal importance as the work itself. I find it necessary to create a fitting platform that acts as a materialisation of the concept and steps into conversation with the work. This results in spatial installations and artist books. The process of presenting becomes a continuation of the exploration offering another perspective on my work.
