careful control

(2022, between Germany and The Netherlands)

Forests are natural. They are these romanticised untouched places where nature is ruling everything. Looking closer at the forests in the Netherlands, which itself is a country that is built on planning documents and constructed areas, it was clear that this is an illusion. Forests are as planned as cities and they have invisible caretakers that ensure that the system works and the circles don’t get broken. How does human control look like in a natural space and is it actually controlling or more supporting, caring? Following the traces of the foresters and searching for their influence.
